During the 60s, Mancunian Professor John Charnley decided to use the highly-crossliked polyethylene to design a wear resistant acetabular cup. Thanks to his work on the reduction of acetabulum’s wear, the cement-sealing of the components and the access ways, Charnley brings the right balance among three risks: wear, loosening and dislocation. It is the result of all of Pr. Charnley’s work that is invested again in this acetabular cup.
